Week #10 - Salton City - San Bernardino, CA Mission
Well this week has been very interesting and long. We have
been teaching and traveling a lot. This week had a zone conference so we had to
wake up 5:30 in the morning so that we could make it to the conference. We then drove back and had barely enough time
to do some studies before going to teach another lesson.
This week has been interesting because we've had some
curveballs thrown at us through out the week. First of all, one of the people
we are teaching asked us about polygamy. This caught us off guard because we
were ready to teach about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'll also admit that this
was the first time I've been asked that in the mission. No one in Peru ever
asked me about polygamy. Most of the concerns were about accepting the Book of
Mormon and Joseph Smith because though they are mentioned in the Bible, they
are not referred to by their names. My companions were also surprised so it was
kind of all over the place in trying to answer her.
Another curveball that was thrown at us was with another one
of the people we were teaching. We went over the baptismal questions with him.
Afterwards, he said that he felt that one of the baptismal questions was too
probing and that it was wrong to ask people if they had committed serious sins.
He also made the point that people can just lie. I've never had any one with
that concern, either. We tried our best to help him resolve it. We explained that the baptismal interview questions are
Thankfully, we have a good relationship with him and hopefully the spirit can
testify that those questions were set by prophets to help people be prepared to
make the baptismal covenants.
We also ate out at wingstop today for P-day. They had some
cool pictures of the P-51 Mustang
Love you guys!
