Week #2 - Salton City - San Bernardino, CA Mission

Hey everyone!

Well this week has been a good week. So my area is huge and is very close to the Mexican border. In fact, there are people who occasionally visit Mexico in my area. The two central parts of my area are Salton City and Borrego. In Borrego there's a branch and a chapel that's English speaking. In Salton City there's a Spanish group and we meet in a senior's center. Yesterday,  I went to church with the Spanish group, gave a talk, and played piano accompaniment for the hymns. The talk was impromptu, but thankfully I can speak Spanish better than a year ago so I was able to talk for 15 minutes without much trouble.

Besides church and talks, we have a couple of people that are progressing. One even accepted a baptismal date! She is very open to the feelings of the Spirit.  We left her a Book of Mormon last Wednesday and by yesterday she had read to 1 Nephi 10. She didn't understand Lehi's dream too well but we helped her with that. It's really hot down here, like 100+, but we went up to a family up in the mountains called the Bartons. We made pizza with them which was pretty fun. It was also about 20 degrees cooler up there. I was sad going back.

Last of all, what it is very interesting us that the brother who played a major role in the formation of this branch was the first mission president of Trujillo. It's crazy that this area has so many connections to my previous mission.

Love you guys!
