Week #38-40 - Fontana (Sierra & Alder Ward) - San Bernardino, CA Mission

Hey everyone,

Ever since the world erupted in confusion and panic I haven't been able to get a lot time to write, but now I actually have a little time to write.

Its been a little crazy over here as I'm sure it has been for you all. It all started when about a week and a half to two weeks ago President McKinnon asked everyone to buy a two week supply of none perishable food. The grocery store was packed when we went and it took us an hour to get through the line. Luckily everything went well but the next day, I believe, we learned that church meetings were being stopped and we were just able to have our zone temple day before the announcement was made that temples were closing. That was sad because I was looking forward to the temple trip for departing missionaries. Oh well :/

Within the next few days we were asked to start moving all our lessons to video or voice calls. Only a day or two after that we received notice of a shelter in place order given by the governor of California. This is still in place and basically, like most of you have heard, we have to teach from home and only allowed to go out for exercise, to get food, or for emergencies. We were also later informed that we should wear proselyting clothes only during video lessons. If we are traveling, or going outside we've been asked to wear street clothes so that no one thinks we are going out to visit people.

Also, twenty four missionaries were sent home this morning to protect them because they had respiratory issues that would have made the coronavirus more dangerous to them.

My companion was among the twenty four sent home so I am now with the Alder Elders and will probably be working with them and those in my area.

The good news is that we had some good lessons with people. No one is really progressing at the moment, but there's potential.

Stay safe and healthy. Love you all!
